Building permit granted for Ferry Terminal
The new passenger terminal and associated passenger bridges of the Ferry Terminal Turku project have been granted a building permit, marking a significant milestone for the project. The permit was issued by the Turku City Building and Permit Committee at their meeting on Thursday, October 10th.
Construction of the terminal is set to begin at the start of 2025, with an estimated completion date in 2027. Tallink Silja will start using the terminal as soon as it is completed, and Viking Line will follow once the work on the second pier is finished in 2027.
The contractor selection process for the passenger terminal is currently underway. Preparations for the tender have already been made, and final bids will be requested from the companies selected for the procurement process.
The passenger terminal is based on the winning proposal from an architectural competition, named Origami. The new building will primarily feature glass, steel, and aluminum as its surface materials.
The new terminal will enhance the efficiency of passenger traffic and provide modern services for both passengers and shipping companies.
