News in the Ferry Terminal Turku project – April 2025
The terminal project is progressing well
The terminal project is progressing according to schedule. Earthworks will continue until early June. The stabilization of the land area began in week 14 and will last until the end of May. After stabilization, the installation of the foundation elements for the first floor will follow, and the construction of the base plate will begin in early June.
The goal is to start the construction of the frame in July. The completion of the roof is scheduled for November, so hopefully, the topping-out ceremony can be held later this year.
The berths are a significant part of the entire project
As part of the Ferry Terminal Turku project, the berths will also be upgraded to meet the needs of future maritime traffic. Currently, the work on the S1 pier project is underway, which includes task such as the construction of the passenger gangway foundations (completion in July), pier piling work, and concrete structures construction (completion in January 2026). Simultaneously, ramp construction work is also ongoing, which will be completed by the end of September, and the ramp installation will be carried out in October.
The design of the S2 quay has continued, and test piling will be carried out in early June to support the design of the quay area.
The project is monitored daily, and environmental technical supervision and samples according to permit conditions are taken regularly.
Field area project management contract in tender
The procurement of the project management contract for the implementation of the field area has been initiated. The goal is to have the contract signed with the project management contractor by the summer, so that construction work can begin by late summer. The phasing and construction schedule of the field area will be agreed upon in more detail with the selected project management contractor.
