The planning work began in August 2023 and is scheduled to be completed by June 2025. The planning work includes, among other things, preparing the traffic plan for the field area, considering traffic arrangements during construction, and planning the relocation of utilities in the terminal area.
Planning Stages
- The ground investigations and contamination assessments of the area were carried out in the summer of 2024. The ground investigations and soil samples were completed in September 2024.
- The utility relocation plans for the terminal area are ready and will be implemented in the terminal contract. The utility relocations have been planned in cooperation with Turun Vesihuolto, Turku Energia, and the Linnanniemi area planner.
- The traffic plan for the field area has been completed and will be refined using traffic simulation. The traffic simulation will be carried out at the end of 2024, and the plans will be adjusted as necessary.
- Currently, the work in progress includes the leveling and water supply planning for the field, area electrical and lighting planning, and the design of the substructures.
City plan
The zoning of the Ferry Terminal Turku project area enabled the implementation of the new port terminal and the buildings, traffic connections and parking arrangements it needs.
